Purchasing Agent/Buyer

Irr Supply Centers, Inc. is looking for a Purchasing Agent/Buyer to join our team!

Niagara County

Duties

Responsible for leveraging suppliers to deliver products and services at the lowest total cost and at the highest levels of quality through the application of progressive purchasing concepts, practices and procedures. Manages service levels and resolves issues through collaboration with the end users of the product and suppliers. Develops understanding of materials, services and programs offered. Completes various financial reporting tasks.

Performs periodic supplier reviews and visits. Open and ongoing communication with end users and suppliers is a must. Participates sections of negotiations with suppliers on contract terms, pricing, issue resolution, as an established procurement practice. Proactively manages contracts and ensures that agreements do not lapse. Actively works to identify and implement cost savings opportunities including resistance to pricing pressures, process improvements, and supplier improvement ideas. Actively works to increase collaboration by building and maintaining relationships with suppliers and other groups. Reviews vendor requests. Makes presentations of results and recommendations to various groups, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and 2 years job related experience Strong PC Skills and the ability to create spreadsheets, analysis, reports

Occasional local/regional travel Strong negotiations skills and experience Good written and verbal communication skills Excellent math and analytical skills Confidence in dealing with suppliers and internal staff
